Oscars and WTF

I'm heading out in a few minutes to my friend's annual Oscar party. Last year's theme was inspired by the location of Slumdog Millionaire and we all dressed in India inspired outfits. Tonight the theme is supposed to be "Avitar."

Well, one - I have not seen the movie (or any other movie).

Two, I wore my blue shirt to the New Year's Eve party and cannot have two facebook albums with the same outfit.

Three. James Cameron was a fucking duffus at the Golden Globes and I don't care if everyone thinks Avitar is wonderful, I'm not painting myself blue for the likes of him. And if he wins and gets up there and tells me he has to take a piss, I hope someone spits in his drink.

Two years in a row (a couple years back) I won a prize for guessing the most winners. Tonight I have not even heard of most of the movies.

Ah. Well.

Life goes on. Unbloggable and life changes might mess the fuck out of my routines, but new ones are taking shape.

Aloha

  1. Go dressed in blue and act out that Goldfinger routine where the woman dies from paint poisoning...that'll shut 'em up.....

  3. I've only seen a few of them. Didn't see Cameron's behavior at the other awards show, so can't speak to that, but Avatar is my new all-time favorite movie, so I'm hoping it wins big.

Life changes . . . I hear ya. Me too, and most things just aren't bloggable.

Have fun at your awards party.

  4. Wow, yeah, what James Cameron atrocity did I miss? He's been nothing but polished and well-spoken tonight...

Regardless of him, Avatar is a really enjoyable film experience, but there are a number of great movies nominated.

And regardless of any of that - ENJOY YOUR PARTY! :)

  5. I take pride in never having seen either Titanic or Avatar.

  6. oscar parties sound much more fun than actually watching the oscars, I shall live through you vicariously, have a blast!

  7. Amen sista. I haven't seen Avatar, nor do I have any burning desire to see it. Quite frankly, I've been sick of all the Oscar fuss this whole week and I'll be glad when the danged event is past!

Nope, didn't watch it either. I've been reading one of Andrew Weil's books... how boring am I?! LOL

  8. nah, i'm not an oscars fan...

  9. I went to bed with a book... although I did stay up to see the dresses on the red carpet.
I'm with Raina - never have seen Titanic and have no plans to see the blue people anytime soon.

  11. "cannot have two facebook albums with the same outfit"

    Sheesh. The modern world.

  12. I love the Oscars; lucky you with a party to go to.
I saw most of the movies this year, a first. I loved Hurt Locker and am so glad it beat Cameron, especially since his ex made it!

  13. Late to the party here... so fun that Cameron's ex wife beat him for the Oscar win! Love shit like that. He seems like a dick. But I did love his big blue aliens.

  14. I didn't even realize the Oscars were on last night until I saw Oldest Son online when he should have been doing his night/weekend job; apparently the stage theatres in Dallas shut down for the Oscars.

I didn't watch, since I knew Up wasn't going to win Best Picture and wouldn't be surprised if Avatar did.

  16. James Cameron always comes across as awkward/douchey.

Cameron: I'M KING OF THE WORLD!
    Audience: ... [cough]

stands out as one of the more memorable uncomfortable moments in Oscar history.

  17. Yeah, I skipped it this year again. An old friend in NY used to have a party that was fun, but I haven't been able to get into the Oscars since we don't go to the movies much anymore. Damn kids getting in the way of my movie/television enjoyment. I'd better have a wide screen in my retirement home, I tell you! (he he he).

So, what did you end up wearing?

  18. You could have dressed like Ben Stiller?!?!?!
    Or not.

So glad Hurt Locker won and we didn't have to hear Cameron pump himself up all night :-)

    Hope the party was fun.

  19. I always feel out of it on Oscar night... I'll see some of these films eventually. This year I have not seen a single one nominated for anything. That might mean I am old -- or I might be independent, discerning and busy. You too!

  21. Well the awards weren't all that noteworthy. I sure hope the party was more fun. :)

  22. I love that Sandra won.. That is was a woman's night too..

  23. Well, it didn't win! Now, we'll all have to aspire to become directors, as it is possible to get an oscar.

  24. I had not seen one movie that was nominated for best picture. We watched sans blue paint. D1 was in a pool at work and she won.

Isn't it funny how facebook can ruin all attempts at getting multiple uses out of your wardrobe.

  25. The cherry on top of the Oscars was when The Hurt Locker took the big prizes at the end......and his first ex-wife beat the pants off of his arrogant ass. WOOO HOOO!

  26. I haven't seen any of the movies either. And there is no way in hell I'm painting myself blue for anyone. Hope you had fun.

  27. Take good care. I haven't seen any of the movies this year and Cameron indeed seems more than an ass. Hope you had a good time at the party - and changes in routine are supposed to be good. Right? Say yes, please!

  28. I'm responding from the future, where I know who wins...

All I can tell you is that you're going to have a very good night--and no need to have painted yourself blue.

The ass stays in his seat all night.

  29. Laughing at Jocelyn's comment! I love movies; however, I only seem to see a few a year on Netflix. And most are independents and documentaries. Oh, well. I'm weird.

  30. I'm with you, I haven't even heard of most of the movies on the list. Hope you had fun at the party, Pseudo.

  31. Oh I hope the party went ok after all. And at least he never got the Oscar after all. Avatar was ok, but it had no sotryline much to speak of. Live does go on doesn't it, up and down and roundabout but we still hang on. Glad new changes are taking shape, that sounds good.

  32. cameron's ex-wife won! 'ya gotta love it... (still haven't seen it, the screener's been sitting here for a couple of months. couldn't quite get in the mood after that kid leaving for afghanistan told me, "i don't wanna see that shit... gotta live it.") just haven't gotten into the mindset after that.

  33. I hope that the unbloggables have gotten somewhat better.
