I was only 7 and it scared the hell out of me. I was convinced whoever did it was going to come across the country and find us and kill us.<br />Years later in HS, I tried to read Helter Skelter. I was alone in the house and it freaked me out by the first chapter. I had to stop and hide it under the bed. Still too near and scary.
