Friday Foto: Dive On In

For today's Friday Foto Fiesta, thought we'd go inside the scenes. So, first a dive into the ocean that some of you have commented is such a pretty color. This is my view when I'm snorkling. BC keeps an eye on me. Sometimes, he plunges in to check on me when I'm not looking, swims up to me, and paddles his nails all over my back. If I come out screaming bloody murder, he knows all is well. That's Mr. Pseudo, son, and son's friend taking a little rest up on the beach.

That'a a school of little fish.
A shell hunting hole in the reef.

Dare devil son and dare devil pal.
They did not pay a lot of attention to the sign, yes? These two are more than just friends. They're kalabash cousins, meaning they have been raised like blood cousins even though they are not blood related. Son's pal is the son of one of my closest and dearest friends. She and I go back before the boys, before our husbands even. We were there for each other through the break ups of the ones that came before. My friend was my coach for the birth of both my children (yes, husband was there, but I knew I needed back up). I was there for the birth of her boy. These two boys, although nearly two years apart, have grown up together. Sometimes they fight like brothers, but they are very close.
Here's a video that my friend's son made of what they do for fun. My son is the silly one snorkling with the videographer. BC is featured on the ride up in the first few seconds of the video.

  6. We are having a hig wind (40-60 mph) warning today. It's supposed to rain too, but so far not so much.

There is a high surf warning and the area where we were snorking a few weeks ago has 20-30 foot waves today.

  7. Isn't it nice to live in the warm weather while everyone else is freezing their arses off?

Love the pictures, my underwater shots never turn out that well.

  9. I am imagining myself in that blue water surrounded by warmth instead of being here surrounded by 15 degrees, which are too small to truly surround me. I think my backside is hanging out.

  10. If you ever need a house sitter, I'm really good with plants.

  13. Aw, haha, that's so sweet of BC to check up on you that way. Even if it makes you want to kill him after. :P

I love the story of your long friendship and the friendship of your sons. Rare and special.

  16. Ah, warm tropical breezes, hot sun... this 7*F weather is for the birds... or penguins.

  17. Friendships that come from parent's friendships are such joyful things. Afterall, they represent a second generation of choosing to be together--not having it thrust at you. It's so wonderful that you can see how your happiness is being continued in your son and his friend.

  18. Love the video. The color is so saturated. Is it the camera that makes the colors like that, or is it... Hawaii? :-)

I'm glad you had a surprise day off of school.

Your son and his friend look like the sort my son would want to hang with.

    Have a great weekend, Pseudo!

  22. i think i see OLN series potential for the Psuedo family...those boys are so much like my nephews, i'm loving the helmetcam during the dirtbiking...i should suggest that to The Mechanic the next time he's out...

And what's the tune? Very happy music to go with a great video.

    Have a great weekend...

  23. The video footage was taken during winter break, but the pictures are from summer.

The video is this cute little helmet cam, the one that took the dirt biking footage. The boy used the same helmet cam and took it snorking since it is waterproof.

Movie - i bet your son would have a lot of fun with the boys. They also are into jamming on the guitars lately.

thistle - are your nephews grown now or still teens?

  24. I love the video and the song and the goofing.

My oldest son and his friend from fifty grade are still thick as thieves. My son is getting married in June and I can't wait to hear the best man's speech.

  25. Cool about the kalabash cousins. :o)

    Beautiful water!!!

    What's a shell hunting hole?

  26. Oh, that video makes me long to be a teeange boy, all that energy and no fear. I never heard the term "kalabash cousins" before and it makes perfect sense. I had "aunts" and "uncles" and "cousins" like that growing up and it wasn't until we were older that we realized we weren't really related but oh well who cares? And we still call each other "cousin"...

  27. The dog standing guard on the beach...what a friend! I love all your snaps, and yearn for the days when I can leave this single-digit weather behind and reside in Heaven on Earth, just like you! BTW, don't forget Sx3 tomorrow...we'll be in an Inaugural Kind of Mood!

  28. My 3 year old is sitting with me watching the video. He has a lot of questions. I think it would be easier to just bring him there. Probably won't be as relaxing as the last time I was there.

  29. Carrie - I hope my son and his pal are each other's best mans some day.

Captian - I'd offer my son as a baby sitter for your boy, but really, he's a horrible influence.

  30. I'm officially jealous of your weather. Wow. That looks gorgeous!
