Remember yesterday where I confessed to the difficulty of committing to regularly scheduled themes on the blog? Well, despite that, I am still committed to Traveling Thursdays. Last week there were zero takers on Mr. Linky, which was not surprising after my hiatus and missing the travel post myself two weeks in a row.
I hope to build up Travel Thursdays. Perhaps it is being isolated on a rock in the middle of the ocean with a wanderer's heart that keeps me interested in all things related to travel, even if the travel is virtual.
This week's tip? When booking a vacation to Oahu, check out a show at a local community theatre. Diamond Head Theatre and Manoa Valley Theatre are very close to Waikiki and put on wonderful shows. Currently Hair is showing in Manoa. I have not seen it myself, but my theatre involved daughter did on opening night and still cannot stop raving about the show.
Last night, Daughter and I went to the preview of Shout at Diamond Head Theatre. As a child in the 60's and a teenager of the 70's, I could especially connect with this production. The talent in Hawaii is huge and this show was no exception. Great performances by all. Bravo!
Here's a clip of the Mainland version of the show from YouTube -

Aww, sorry, I haven't been traveling (or posting about travel) hence no linkage. But I'm going to Houston tonight, so I will try to remember!
My best Staycation tip is to UNPLUG, and curl up with some good books. :)
That show looks great!
Yep, I live in a popular tourist spot, but don't really want to reveal my location on the blog...
Not that it is anywhere near as cool as freaking HAWAII.
Yeah, I live in Cleveland. There's a reason I don't do to many Travel Tip Thursdays...
Next week, though, there will be an update on the buzzards!
I'd gladly take on rock fever!
very cool. always like to take in a show and that looks like a fun one...
That show looks really fun, and that particular theatre may or may not be really close to me..
Gotta love those costumes!
Oh, you have no idea how good it is to have you back!
I'll have a TTT post next week, I believe.
A lovely theme! STopping to see live theater is a great way to experience a place.
My husband and I have been on some great trips in places most people wouldn't think of going...like Southern Illinois, for example. I need to start writing posts for Travel Tip Thursday! (That is, if my feeble brain can remember to by next week!)
Someday, maybe we'll even travel to Hawaii!
What fun. Even the shows in Hawaii are big and colorful.
I live in Beijing. It's not exactly driving distance but if anyone is planning a visit I'd love to give tips, particularly for travel with kids.
Oh I love those dresses and the show looks great. I am doing some travelling soon so should join in with this at some point.
Sounds like you guys had a fun night! For staycation ideas, I always scout out restaurant deals, and pack picnics to local parks. We're doing both of those this weekend! Ooh, and spa days! Nothing better than a pedicure or massage!
i just love how music takes us back in time...
I have a love/hate relationship with travel. I always think I want to, but as soon as I leave I want to go home! Of course, I have never been to Hawaii...maybe I'll go and never want to go home! ;)
I have tried starting themes on my blog, but my brain is so scattered I can't ever remember I did! So I just throw stuff out there as I go. Maybe some day I'll be better organized.
Uh. No. I won't.
I want to visit YOU, my friend.
been gone so long don't know what is going on here.
Just like you, I love travel and take it for granted that it's an important part of life. Seems like you have great shows to visit locally.
I'll be joining you this coming Thursday, as Ella Numera Dos & I are headed down FLA way. PS: This looks like loads of fun!
hmm no travel tips, but I'd sure love to visit Hawaii! Your so lucky!
Thanks for stopping by :)
Naomi
I'm assuming that while at Shout you grooved along like a true child of the 60s?
One of these days I'm going to have to participate in TTT, just have too much going on right this second. I do love stopping by and seeing your beautiful pictures though.
