Congratulations to Mama Badger and Kristan. I'll be emailing you for your addresses.

Meanwhile, weird little story.
In our entry hall, we have some fake bamboo (in our yard we have a huge garden of the real stuff).
Yesterday, Hubs says all frantically, "Holy shit, there's a chameleon in the bamboo."
And there was. Don't look for it in that shot up above, didn't get the shot.
Lying along a stalk like he thought it was the real stuff.
We had no idea how it got there.
We were late to an event with a time frame, so we left it there. I wanted to come back and get a photo of it.
When we returned home, I had forgotten about the little guy.
In this shot, notice BC's water and food bowls and how they sit next to the bamboo....
So.
We get home and Hubs is all in another upset.
Did I mention he can't handle lizards? Geckos. Chameleons. I am in charge of catching them and taking them outside. He thinks nothing of the giant cockroaches over here and will smash one silly. Which totally grosses me out.
In our marriage he is the cockroach killer and I am the lizard catcher.
But I digress.
Hubs is freaking out because the chameleon had somehow landed in BC's water bowl.
OK. Just picture a lizard lying across this.
I was really bummed and felt a bit responsible for the horrible drowning. Hubs could not bring himself to lift the water bowl with the dead chameleon floating on top.
When I did, the little fucker started swimming and clawing up the sides.
I have to say it was a bit startling.
However, I carried the bowl outside and poured the water slowly onto the real bamboo and the chameleon jumped on out and found himself a stalk.
I swear he looked right at me and I think I heard a faint thank-you muchly.

In our house I am spider saver and other folks have to tend to mouse shenanigans (we had professional mouse catchers last yr). When I lived in the south, lizards were cute... But cockroaches.? No. Just no.
Cute little story Pseudo.
ha. nice...we used to get lizards all the time in FL...my cat loved them...for breakfast, lunch, dinner a snack...
unless they are going to bite or spit on me I think they are great. They are too fast for me to catch. Glad the little guy got his freedom.
I guess he ran away fom home!! Little guy!

Life is an adventure indeed. Thank you for the lovely story :) It is perfect to begin a morning with.
sweet! i can't remember the last time i saw one of those guys...
Not only are the cockroaches HUGE where you are - they FLY. I have ALL sorts of problems with that. In fact, I have problems with just about anything with six legs. Well, except for ladybugs, but those are cute.
Oddly enough, spiders don't bother me at all. In fact, they fascinate me and I always let them be. Yes, I know - I'm weird.
I'm still shuddering at the thought of giant, flying cockroaches (you know how I feel about those Pseudo!!) but am glad you gave the chameleon another chance.
I looked all over that bamboo before I read that he wasn't in the shot!
What a disappointing vacation for the poor little lizard. The hotel room has fake plants and he gets thrown out of the pool!
Glad that you all survived your close encounter with nature (I was waiting for you to say that the dog ate the lizard and barfed it back up, though).
Lol. Aw... traumatic day for everyone. But happy endings all around, too!
And thanks, I'll email you. :)
I would have shit my pants at the lizard rising from its watery grave. Then shit myself again when it thanked me for saving its life.
I'm with you! I'll catcha a lizard every day of the week but sombody else is gonna be squashing roaches!! ::shudder::
You saved a little critter's life. You're the best!
We love Chameleons here! My daughter had two as pets. I would love to live in a place where they just wonder around the outside foliage free to do as the please.
Yeah, I would have been startled. Enough to drop the dog's bowl and run screaming from the house. Good for you...and I thank you for saving Mr. Chameleon, too. :)
Ha Ha Mama Badger! pseudo- the geckos were one of my favorite things when I went to Hawaii . But I like mice too. Now cockroaches a spiders ... Not so much. Yeah for your chameleon!
My cats would LOVE to find a lizard in their water bowl. Or anywhere! I think I would be okay with rescuing a live lizard, but I would have trouble taking out a dead one (or presumed dead).
Occasionally a blue-tailed skink finds its way into my house and I'm the one who has to catch it. I don't mind lizards, but I'm totally with you about the utter grossness of squashing those enormous tropical roaches. I don't believe I could do it.
Too funny! I totally would have screamed when the thing moved haha.
Awww... I like chameleons almost as much as I like geckos! I even have a gecko tattoo. Naughty me.
Actually it's on my shoulder so not all that naughty. I call him Pete. He's supposed to be good luck for me. :)
I would take lizard duty over cockroach duty any day.
I fished one out of our pool yesterday against my better judgement. Hate those things. Almost as much as frogs. They all move too fast for me.
Got to be good for the Karma meter, don't you think?
(hope all is well!!)
You'd make a great pair with MHS. He has a leetle leezard friend. LOL
