I'm back... kind of...

Well. I certainly did not think I would stay away this long. The last time I moved was nearly 17 years ago. The kids were 4 and 1 and we owned a bed, a crib, kitchen stuff, and clothes. And toys. Lots of those.

I was all sassy, thinking with packing and sorting and getting rid of stuff over the last couple of months that I had paced myself.

Son a freaking bitch. I had no idea.

I do now know what the term bone tired really means. I have felt it for a week or two now.

We still have about 15 boxes unpacked. Since I am living without whatever is in them I am OK with that today.

I was going to try and finish unpacking this weekend, but got sidetracked by emergency sirens and phone calls.

Mesmerized all morning by the live news shot of Hilo Bay where the tsunami was going to hit first. It is a horrbile thing when one watches the tide moving in and out three times and wonders when the real deal is coming. Apparently I am the victim of too many action films.

But really very thankful that Hawaii is OK. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the earthquake and is it just me or does it seem like there have been a lot of natural disasters this year?

I miss all my internet buds. It will take awhile to get around to everyone and I feel like I have been in a cave. Reading posts after being gone for awhile feels like walking into a movie half way in.

So I'm back. Or at least trying.

Pseudo, we have been glued to our sets, worried about Hawaii. You have no idea how glad we are to hear that it's going to be all right down there.

Post when you can, and try to take it easy.

(((Pseudo))) We miss you too!

Welcome back, and so glad you checked in with us today - I've been thinking about you. Glad to hear you're all okay. Good luck with the last few boxes!

Ah, Pseudo, honey....nothin's as easy as it was all those years ago :))) Glad you're ok...

Welcome back! I was very glad to hear that Hawaii was going to spared any disasterous waves. Hopefully there won't be any harm done to anyone from whatever bit of harshness you do receive.

I remember when my DH and I bought our house and moved in. I swear there were a few boxes that got overlooked and weren't noticed for YEARS. That tells me I have too much "stuff" that I don't need.

Unpacked boxes are just fine.
So glad to hear that you are ok. Thanks for sending me the message on FB - it updates on my phone and I found out sooner.
Glad you are back online too... but take your time. Moving sort of sucks the life out of a person.
Take care! Have missed you lots!

Glad your move is completed and you are getting settled in the new place. We have been keeping eye on the news today with tsunami warnings in HI. My son and DIL live on Oahu. I called him a couple hours ago. He said he would text me when the storm is over but that is isn't as bad as they thought it would be. Glad you are all okay.

Lol. That's the spirit.

And you can ignore the email I sent today. I'm glad to know you're doing okay. (And yes, it feels like a lot of natural disasters. In the past few years, really. SE Asia tsunami, Katrina, earthquakes, etc... o_O)

Rest up!

Welcome back!
Yes, we've been on a tsunami warning here too. I think it ended up amounting to one wave being one foot bigger than usual.

An awful lot of hype here for nothing.

So glad it ended up being safe for you there also.

by now you got my email and know i was thinking of you all today when i was hearing the reports...glad all is well. hope the rest of the unpacking is a breeze...we still have boxes from 5 years ago somewhere....

I don't envy you the move. It took us years to get completely unpacked. We still have old VHS tapes in boxes.

Glad you and the family are safe, albeit exhausted.

I've been out of touch for the past week or so and coming back is definitely a little strange. Halfway through a movie is pretty accurate actually.

Thank God Hawaii is in good shape. It's funny, but we really all have been worrying about you.

If it makes you feel any better, I still have about 15 boxes that I've been living without from our last move, and that was 5 years ago!

Glad to hear all is well, you were on my mind this morning, I checked in a few times to see if you were back online.

I am facing the big move in 3 months and have got rid of so much, but yet the pile does not seem to get any smaller!

Any moving/packing tips would be appreciated ;)

So glad you are back. You're so right about returning to blogworld after an extended absence: it is exactly like walking into a movie halfway through...

And I was so so so relieved last night to discover that Hawaii was untouched by the residual effects of the events in Chile!!! Mother Nature is definitely trying to tell us something.

Best of luck with the continued unpacking!

Psuedo,
It was nice to get this update and se how you are doing.
I immediately thought of you and your family when I found out about the tsunami watch. Thank goodness nothing came of it, but how scary for you!
I remember well the tiredness I felt after our last move--it consumes your life for weeks and you don't feel moved in completely even for a year.

I'm sorry to say that I had no idea about anything happening in Chili or Hawaii or anything until AFTER it was over!
Glad you're okay, glad the toll is still down in Chili, and glad you're as close to done as you are! Mwah!

Glad to see you back. There is a reason why moving is up there with divorce and bereavement for serious life knocks. I moved in August and I am only just recovering -- and still haven't found everything.

So glad you're not getting hit. It feels so good to purge and start fresh.

Post pics when you're ready.

Yes! There have been too many natural disasters lately. I keep watching the news and crying.

Hope you're enjoying the new digs, even with unopened boxes.
