Random Mother's Day Thoughts...

The Spin Cycle this week is Mother’s Day.

There are so many ways to go on this………….

Let’s go a little random.

* * *

For Mother’s Day, I like to go to the beach. I like to relax and enjoy the day. I never, ever want to go to a restaurant. I worked in restaurants for twenty years and would never choose to spend this holiday in that craziness.

Mother’s Day calls to those who are not usually diners. It’s a circus. I was waitressing on Mother’s Day for both of my pregnancies. Both my babies were born in June so on MD I was big as a Thanksgiving turkey on growth hormones. The non frequent diners had no heart for my soon to be motherhood and I got the worst tips ever for the hardest work day. Whatever. I cast my mother's curse on those people a long time ago, but now I'm trying to be a better person, so I apologize for any curse effects.

* * *

I was incredibly close to my paternal grandmother. I still miss her and she has been gone for twenty years. On Mother’s Day I miss her even more.
Happy Mother's Day Bahquine!

My relationship with my own mother is worth a book or two. She’s a bit of a challenge at times and lately those times are a humming. On top of an unbloggable year filled with trials and tribulations, my mother is the icing on the WTF cake.
* * *
Perhaps for Mother's Day I should wish for boring.

We do go to a restaurant to celebrate with my daughter and her hubby in Eugene. Just not on Sunday. We pick a day in the middle of the week, when restaurants are less busy. I order food I could/would not ever cook myself. Yeah!

I do understand your preference for a quiet time.

We've given up on restaurants for Mother's Day too. Ugh. The worst. Valentine's Day also, always a ripoff and too crowded. Have fun on the beach!

Icing on the WTF Cake... sure does sum it up!

Good grief, I never thought you could be THIS random. I may need to take a pill to calm down.

Icing on the wtf cake may be stolen. Gold.

I hear you on Mother's Day. I much prefer time on my own to a dinner out. I actually like to go out to eat at some take/our hole-in-the-wall place in general, so sometimes that's ok on the big holidays.

I wish you peace and a huge slice of Boring Pie. xo

Yep, boring can be the best thing.

My Mother's Day is usually spent at home, in a hammock. Usually my husband will make breakfast for me(which no one ever does all the rest of the year, so I love that).

I would have done unspeakable things to those restaurant patron's meals.

Agreeing with Erin... Icing on the WTF cake for sure.

Hope your Mothers Day is calm and peaceful. Sounds like that is what you would like. Me too. My days are usually that way.

Sending you calm, peaceful, boring vibes for your Mother's Day this year, dear Pseudo.

You couldn't get me near a restaurant on Mother's Day, unless it's 8 pm when things calm down.

I'll be driving my older daughter to the airport in Newark NJ on Mother's Day so she can fly to Ireland WITHOUT ME!

Happy Mother's Day, Pseudo!

"big as a Thanksgiving turkey on growth hormones"

LOL I love that.

"my mother is the icing on the WTF cake"

Nice. I mean, not nice that it's happening, but nice way of putting it.

Hmm, I suggest you cut that WTF cake up and give it away. Don't need the calories or the crazy!

I'm so stealing that line, too. You're too much.

Here's hoping that Mother's Day brings you a welcome surprise, this year.

I prefer to stay as far away from restaurants too. Holiday's seem to bring out the dining dummies.

Have a great day at the beach!

Just say NO to dining out on Mother's day. What a nightmare.

Taking mother out to eat is on the agenda for Mother's Day, I will remember to pay attention to the waitress and be generous with the tip. Thanks for the reminder to pay attention!

We're going to Iron Man 2 on Mother's Day. I would never in a million years want to go to a restaurant, either.

ah---i have icing on my mom wtf cake too. however, w/ my own kids--it's always good. they relish in making me breakfast (it's morphed from cereal when that's all they could make) to eggs/bacon etc. now. then there are the cards and gifts. in recent years they compete to see who can get me the card that makes me cry the most. otherwise the day is laid back, relaxing and i like it that way : )

My mother doesn't like to do anything on Mother's Day. She likes it to be a normal day oh but she does expect you to give her some kind of gift. haha

Your mother is the icing on your WTF cake??? That is hands down the best line I've heard all week.
I think your mother and my mother may deserve each other for Mother's Day...

I don't do anything on Mother's Day ~ no restaurant, I totally agree with you on that one ~ it is my day to stay in bed, read and have everyone cater to my every whim.

Wishing you a relaxing, perfect day.

Sending you a big boring! A big bag of boring! UPS! You deserve it.

"my mother is the icing on the WTF cake"...

Sigh. Mine too.

I agree. I think going to the beach or somewhere else outdoors is far more enjoyable than going to a restaurant. And this is coming from a declared indoor fanatic. (But also, an ex waitress.) :)

The line is definately going to be remembered, if not stolen!

Mother's Day this year will be like all the other days of the last month--who knows what will happen!

Having an unemployed husband is like having a new born: you just don't know from day to day what the little guy is going to do. He's full of suprises both wonderful and stinky and you spend a lot of sleepless nights.

For a few years my mom kept wanting to go to Hometown Buffet in her city for BREAKFAST. So we'd have to get up really early and then drive over there to wade through the crowds and eat buffet food at a big table that you couldn't even talk to everyone at. Did I mention my husband gets a freaked out in big crowds? Finally told her that wasn't any fun for us!

I'm with you on wishing for boring. We went to the beach and had a great time so it all worked out. Hope yours was great, happy belated.
