Spreading the News...

Travel Tip Thursday is running late.... there are reasons, but they are not interesting enough to blog about.

Anywhos. My good friend Smart Mouth Broad is in NYC for a business trip. So I thought I'd post a few pics and tips from our one and only visit there in the summer of 2007. The video is meant to accompany for mood...

Take a walk or three in Central Park and make sure you see John Lennon's Imagine....

A friend of mine said not to be embarrassed about being a tourist and to get on the double deck bus. And we did and had a blast. What do I care if New Yorkers think I'm a tourist? I was.

You can get on and off the busses all day long. We shopped Canal Street, had coffee in Little Italy, got off again for pizza and shopping.... the list is endless.

The bus drivers were awesome. Loads of personality and lots of tips for what to do and where to go.

Our favorite deli lunch would be hard to pick, but I think Stage Deli might be it. I thought I had a photo to post, but sorry, none without me and la familia in it.

Anybody have tips for Smart Mouth while she's there? Please leave them in the comment thread.

AND!!! WTF is up with blogger now with the new dashboard. Anyone?

Have a travel post? Link on up.....

Soo, that's where SMB is (hope she blogs about it)! I've never been in New York city, but I hope to someday so thanks for the tip.

Thank goodness you said something about blogger. I tried refreshing the page three times thinking it was my computer. I'm thinking it's a glitch.

I wish I had NYC tips, but it's been nearly 2 decades since I've spent any quality time there. If my son were awake, I would ask him... I'm sure he has a pizza or coffee tip.

When I was young, growing up in NY (in the country), I always considered going to the original Saks a treat, but who knows what it's like now.

Have fun SMB!! xoxo

i used to travel to nyc for work about once or twice a year. even though i'm in my 40s fao swartz never failed to impress me. and dylan's candy bar--omg, it's like a modern day willy wonka place. the first time i was in ny i did the empire state building--awesome. there is a sex museum, but frankly i was a little embarrassed to go by myself. i think friday nights? are free musuem nights at the moma--i went..awesome!.

I'd love to go to NYC just for a visit.

And what is up with Blogger? I thought it was just me. Glad to know I'm not going crazy.

Stage Deli is great! And one of their sandwiches will feed a family of four!

Al and I keep saying we're going to do a weekend in NYC... hopefully before we're dead.

Yep, that's pretty much my attitude everywhere I go. I mean, I try not to be an OBNOXIOUS tourist, but I think if you're polite, no one cares that you're not native.

It's only places that I feel at home (Madrid, Taipei) that I don't want to stick out like a tourist.

Tips for Smart Mouth include Rice to Riches, a DELICIOUS ride pudding shop in Soho. I went with my friends back in April and STILL get cravings... (Warning: servings are large and sweet. Do not expect to eat it all!)

Never been so I can't help. Almost went once when I was invited to go on Maury Povitch, but that's another story.

But I can't help either. . .shame on me!!!

Missed TTT again--was a little busy this week, but heading to North Carolina this week and down to Latin America at the end of the month, so maybe there will be further TTT posts. Enjoy NYC--just don't root for the Yankees (that's my travel tip, but it might get you beat up side the head)!

Been so long since I've been to NYC, I have nothing to contribute there either, but I'd sure love to go sometime around Christmas. And on February 14, of course, to the Empire State Building -- just to be sure he's not there! ;-)

If you are a tourist, why not just embrace it?

Thanks for the travel tips, Pseudo and friends. I did read this from NYC but for some reason was unable to comment from my phone? Oh and for the records...I hate the new blogger dashboard.

I did go to Stage Deli, thanks to your tips and it turned out to be right across from my hotel. I was on my own in the city that day and enjoyed a Kevin Bacon, lettuce and tomato with a Brooklyn lager. :-) Did not get to do the double decker bus but did get a bicycle cabbie ride through Central Park. It was John Lennon's 70th birthday. We weren't able to see the actual Imagine memorial as it was covered with 100s of people singing "Imagine" as we walked up. So awesome.
We did the Empire State building and I'm so glad we did.
Thanks, everyone for your tips. I love NYC and can't wait to visit again.
