The weekend looms ahead with piles of poems to grade and next week's lessons to plan. In my free time I am planning on volunteering by making phone calls for this man.
great clip pseudo!...how different he is from the Mayor of Wasilla. I was reading a bit on the Macleans.ca blog today that was speculating on what might happen if Obama wins, followed by Michael Ignatief possibly winning the Liberal leadership and then maybe becoming PM of Canada, which would give us two intelllectuals on the world stage. Not a bad prospect in my view, but then we know how i feel about the need for intellectual curiousity among world leaders.
Wow. That's a moving video. I'm appalled that it took until '92 for that act to pass. But I hope beyond words that those two make it into office. The world needs them. Desperately I think.
Good luck with the grading. I don't envy you that.
Oh my gosh, Is Bush to blame for this too? Obama & Biden could care less about her. Her baby would have been aborted if it were up to Obama. .... I feel the same as you, I can't figure out for the life of me why people would be against smart, thoughtful people being leaders. That is why I am voting for John McCain. Be careful what you wish for ( or vote for)
Politics always brings out the kindness in people, doesn't it? Actually, I find it hides people from people, because most people believe that by just having "anonymous" as their name, they can say whatever they want without really owning up to it. That's something I am actually trying to teach my high school kids....this new idea of being anonymous and what rights you feel it gives you.
People can talk politics without pointing and mocking, can't they? Especially as adults? If we can't, how can we teach our children to do it?
There's a reason why they post as Anon's- so proud of their own way of articulating their thoughts and feelings, lots of ownership! I love that vid and the article was amazing. Thanks.

Oh, that's excellent. Thank you for sharing the video too. I've seen a couple of these.

Ah. I have heard around the internet of rude visitors. This is my first. Since d'arcy took it on for me, it seems appropiate to leave it up.
And thank-you d'arcy. I agree. I work very hard with my students to get them to discuss different points of view without succumbing to put-downs.

Oh thank you thank you thank you for making calls. My evenings have been so nutty and I keep meaning to do it!
We had a huge fundraiser for him last month (which Blicky was not invited to).
Thanks for your visit over at the BK homestead!
