Earth Hour: Please Turn Off Your Lights

My first stop this morning was my blog bud Don't Worry it's Only a Movie. She has a post up about Earth Hour. This is the third year and I hadn't heard of it. You would think Hawaii is an enviromentally aware state, but not so much. We don't even have curbside recycling.

Anyway, thanks Movie. Everyone else, please spread the word.

I will be in the middle of a play during this Earth Day Hour. I can't imagine they would stop the show for it, but it would be cool, wouldn't it? If I was going to be home I would definitely do it. I'll tell my daughters about it. Can't wait to see the after-footage of the event. Thanks for letting us know about this.

We are planning on turning off our lights. The front page of the Chicago Tribune reminded us, and some pretty big buildings downtown are participating. It should be interesting to see if our neighbors do! I'm looking forward to lighting the candles!

Third year? Really?

Honest, I'm with you. I just heard about this tonight - at 8:47 p.m. my time. Watching the news just isn't an option, for a whole host of reasons.

Call me selfish but I spent the whole day at a 6-year-old birthday party and running to soccer games. I just want to blog. I turned off all the other lights - baby steps?

Most frustrating. I just heard about it on the 10pm news - after the fact. Was I just not listening or reading before? Sometimes... easy way for people to participate. Seems like the word could be spread much more easily.

This is so cool, and I love the song in the video. And why hadn't I heard of this either???? I saw a quick blip on the news when they turned out the lights in the studio (although I don't know why if it's not March 31 yet).

p.s. I'm in Hawaii right now, waving to you from Maui!

I was going to do it, but unfortunately I was working last night and the school didn't turn off the lights (although that would have been fun!). I fully intend to tell them to get involved next year.

I can't believe I didn't hear about this until you left this message on my blog?

Next year for sure!!!

I set my alarm for this and even so forgot. Ugh. It would have meant eating dinner in the dark. I'm not sure I could have convinced MHS anyway.

We turned 'em off last night! It's so nice to see so many getting on board with efforts to help save the Earth from self-destruction!

BTW, I'm celebrating One Year in the Blogosphere with a special 2-day Sx3 today and tomorrow. The winner gets a $50 Tar-Jay Gift Card. Please say you'll play!

We were planning on doing this. And then the power went out when a neighbor dropped a tree into the power-lines. Thanks to him everyone in the neighborhood (500 families) were had our lights out for 11 hours. Sometimes these decisions get made for you.
