Traveling Thursday: Graduation, Hawaiian Style

I've attended many graduations here on the island. Most have been in the scope of my job as a high school teacher and helping out with graduation at the end of the year. This year our son graduated.

A special day.

Whether one graduates from public school, like my son; or from a small private all girls' school (my kalabash niece), graduation here in the islands is extra special. The fragrant leis, the island music and spirit, the beautiful sunsets...

I was uploading a really cool video of the class 2010 singing but blogger has been "uploading" an hour and I have to leave for work. Will try and add it in this afternoon.

Come along.

It's almost summer! Today I will be closing up my classroom and tomorrow beginning a new journey. New home, new school next year. Both my children in college...

Come on! Link on up.

Congrats to the boy! Way to go!

How's things been Psuedo? I'm trying to get back to this blogging business.

Thought about you guys while on my hiatus.

Drop me a line when you get a chance. Did a post yesterday that updated everyone on myself and Light if you want to take a look.

Missed you!

That looks like fun. I was trying to think up a witty pun, but I got nothing. It does look beautiful though.

Awesome! How many times did you tear up? I count 4 for The Boys graduation from college. When that baby graduates it's really emotional.

How lovely! Your son seems to be (judging by his photos), a very easy going, fun lovin' guy.

Cheers to him today!

Now I'm thinking I should go with a Hawaiian theme for our party. Looks like most fun.

New journey for many of us this fall. Should be interesting.

Lots of changes coming up for you. I hope the new school for your job turns out great. Having two kids in college will a change to adjust to and see how they are doing. Best wishes to your family and hope you enjoy your summer.

congrats on the new job (it's a good thing, right?)

There are always a lot of leis at graduations here as well, because of the large Hawaiian/Somoan population. They are so pretty!

On seeing the photographs, looks like the boys' gestures are the same all over the world now:-)

Congratulation on graduations and the successful end of a school year--I didn't get around to finishing a TTT blog this week :(

I am so happy that he graduated! I hope that he finds his dreams and goals in life. I am sure that he will. Sorry that I have not been around, I have just not felt the whole blog thing lately. I really am happy for you and him!!

New school too? Wow, you do have a lot of change going on. Looks like a lot of fun graduation stuff going on in your world. Congrats to the kid!

Hooray! Congrats to him. My daughter's first year of high school has ended on a sour note, her grades in the gutter. I'm holding out hope in another three she'll be able to graduate with her class. What a wonderful achievement for him.

Best of luck on the new journey.
