Love

This week Mr. Pseudo and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. We did not go out, we did not buy gifts. We had a home cooked meal as a family. When I get my break from work we will do something a bit more. But sometimes you just feel like you need to baton down the hatches and keep everything close. We have a lot of blessings right here in our home.

I'm finally getting around to reading Twilight. Is it just me, or is it a romance novel with a twist? The beautiful, smart girl with a little bit of a temper? The strong, dashingly handsome young man. The electrifying sexual tension. And I thought it was the vampire thing that had all the girls in my class reading it.

Happy 20th. That is so wonderful. Yeah the Twilight books are a funny love story. Enjoy.

Congratulations!

Yes, Twilight is just a romance story, and a poorly written one as well. If you read all four of the books, you may also have an issue or two with the messages it gives all those young girls reading it. I know I did.

Congratulations Pseudos.

(Well done for looking up polyktonous. Between you and me I couldn't find it either, but Belloc used it and it has a nice ring to it...)

Happy Anniversary to you both. it is hard to put everything aside and just celebrate. I know you have a lot already but I hope you both will at least take a couple of hours of alone time to take in this wonderful day. 20 years is a long time.

Happy Anniversary!! And yep, Twilight is romance first, thriller second. That's why every girl I know has read it. :D

Happy 20th, Pseudo. I hope you can both find time to celebrate.

I agree with Jan on the message Twilight sends. They are fun books, but girls need to know that real relationships don't work this way. I still had a hard time putting them down. Sort like candy.

Happy Anniversary to both of you! I do hope that the two of you are able to get away some time in the near future but until then I hope the 2 of you can steal away from the business of life and have some alone moments together! Love and hugs my friend, Lori

Happy Anniversary!

You know, when I discussed Twilight and how I had to CONSTANTLY clean off my glasses, things were so steamy, everyone in my book club thought I was nuts.

It's nice to know that either your opinion adds credibility to mine or you're nuts right along with me!

Happy Anniversary! 20 years is a BIG deal!

I haven't read Twilight yet, but I want to. Currently, I am reading The Time Traveler's Wife. I love it (so far). I just got in a shipment of books from Amazon today. Everything is Illuminated, the Thirteenth Tale, and Little Children - to add to my stack of waiting to read.

Happy Anniversary! Twenty years is ridiculous, but in a good way.

Aww, happy anniversary! You did good remembering your anniversary, we completely forgot ours last year and it was only our 3rd.

I haven't read Twilight but I probably won't... not my style.

Congratulations to both of you. Good on you spending it with your family. After all its what the two of you have created in that 20 years.

Happy Anniversary! It's lovely to hear that another couple celebrates milestones with everyday pastimes. And about Twilight...I've been avoiding it, but think I'll hunker down and speed-read all 4 books this summer. I guess I just want to see what the buzz is all about.

It's not just you! Twilight is a romance novel without the sex, and with a little bit of vampire/werewolf thrown in. That tension is totally what gets the girls though, haha, not the supernatural stuff.

Like you, that's not what I was expecting. But I loved it! (Even despite the flaws...)

Happy Anniversary to you and Mr. Pseudo.

I see the buzz about Twilight. Ultimate romance book in that Edward has all the essential romance characteristics, plus Bella gets to enjoy the chemistry without worrying about the pressure of going all the way.

A bit concerned about the clumsy girl who needs to be saved by the strong boy...

Happy Anniversary!! I am kind of scared to start reading Twilight and get sucked into that bandwagon! LOL

The electrifying tension -- with not a whole lot else going on -- is what dragged me along through four freakin' tomes!! And now I can't wait to see the movie. I'm such a sucker for bloodsucking romance.

And happy 20th anniversary. That is a fabulous milestone, and it means so much these days. Good on you.

A few weeks ago, NPR's Fresh Air (I think it was Fresh Air) discussed Twilight. I never knew that vampire stories have intrigue because they are love stories. How unromantic am I? I remember watching the Dark Shadows soap opera when I a kid and having it scare the crap out of me. Didn't know those ugly teeth and all that blood was about love. Just don't feel it.

Happy anniversary, Pseudo. Your celebrations sound a lot like ours. When you're finished with Twilight, I'd love a review. It's next in line for me, I think.

Happy anniversary to the two of you?

So you think that the young teenage girls would be swooning over a mere vampire. Did you notice that most of the girls who are reading Twilight are the ones who don't seem to have stepped into the dating scene yet and are as cautious, anxious and excited as any heroine who is wooed by a vampire.

Hearty best wishes to you and Mr Pseudo! Can't think of a better to celebrate. Why share your special day with strangers, when you can share it with family!

Haven't read Twilight and, from what I hear and read of it, don't think I will be doing so. Try googling the title + mormon women sometime.

the most depressing thing about the twilight books (i won't even go to the romance/pc vampire thing) is how awesomely bad they are written. (but) hey, i feel the same way about danielle steel, and she sells like hotcakes, too.

Hey?! How did i miss this one? Congratulations...these days 20 years is a pretty good record.

And as far as celebrating, you don't need material things for that ;)
