Traveling Kuliou'ou Ridge Trail

Today's Travel post is a hike I posted about once before. But it is one of my favorite hikes and worthy of reposting as a Travel Tip. Kuliou'ou Ridge Trail. For those of you who like to hike and enjoy beautiful views, this trail is something you should work into a vacation on Oahu. For those of you who hate hiking, especially an hour and a half of uphill hiking, come along on the virtual photo tour...

And, as always, click on the photos if you would like to see a larger version.

The begining of the hike looking out over Kuliou'ou Valley.

A favorite spot of mine. The tree that looks like it could come to life.

Looking through the foliage at Koko Head Crater and Hawaii Kai.

Clearer view of Koko Head and Hawaii Kai.

Some kind of berries. Probably best not to eat them, no idea if they are poisonous.

The end of the trail gets pretty steep.

Reward at the end. Looking out over Waimanalo, another side of the island...

Make sure you bring water. We also packed sandwiches and fruit and had lunch at the top of the trail.

Have a destination to take us to this week? A travel tip? Staycation tip? Link on up with Mr. Linky.

Oh, that hike looks beautiful! I would love to do that one day. My DH loves to hike and backpack, so I know he'd like it too. The idea of a picnic at the top is a great idea. What a view!

Just LOOKING at that steep trail left me out of breath. Wow!

But I'm with Surfie - what a view!

Beautiful! I'd love to hike there! My post is also of hiking as I've returned to trying to get my journals of the Appalachian Trail posted.

Was it warm there? Because it looks warm.

Those views are incredible! Look at all that green. Beautiful.

Thanks for taking me hiking. I needed to work off that breakfast donut...

I swear if I ever make it to Hawaii I wanna look you up and go to one of these special spots and just sit there with you, take it in, live, and breathe.

(((hugs)))

Oh yeah, just the shot at the ending view is worth the climb!

Beautiful! Be glad you're not here right now. I think we're about to float away!

The view at the end is spectacular but coming from a flat state, the mountains in the first picture blew my mind, they're awe inspiring.

One of these days, I am going to email you and say, "I'm here! Show me around!" :)

Spectacular views!

Given the current winter weather here, though, just being on Oahu would be enough...le sigh...:)

I'm with Otin! I'd love to pop over to Hawaii and have a Pseudo tour. Plus, I think I'd love having a glass (or bottle) or two of wine while chatting about life.

As always, I love your travel posts! You've really made me want to see Hawaii.

Oh, I want to go! It looks like an amazing doable hike. Is it an hour-and-a-half just up?
Love that tree.

Although I enjoy exercise, I think this virtual trip up the hill was just as enjoyable.

I think even I might get out and hike if I had that great scenery to look at.
No, you're right. I probably still wouldn't:)
