I am having a hard time making sense of the world right now.
I had a Friday Foto tour that was going to go up a day late yesterday, but then I lost any desire to post it.
Someone I used to work with, someone who I had not seen for years, but someone who made a lasting impresson on me as a kind soul, was killed in a random act of violence.
My thoughts and prayers are with her spirit and with her family, that is now faced with living out their lives without her.

Pseudo, I am so so sorry to read this.
how awful.
There is no sense to be made. As harsh as this sounds, some things simply are (well, most things, it seems). This man has an overwhelming amount of awful in him and it is a terrible thing that it spilled over into her and her family and you - you and they are in my thoughts and heart.
Sending you condolences and keeping Asa's family in my prayers.
I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of somebody who meant so much to so many.
Sending up a prayer for Asa and her family and friends.
A senseless act that brutally puts life into perspective.
My prayers that her family can get through this tragedy.
I'm so sorry. Sending huge hugs your way!
I am so sorry to hear about your shock and lose. Please take good care of yourself. We are all here when you need us.
That's terrible. I'm sorry to hear it. We've had a couple of those in our life. There really is no sense to make of it, sadly. My thoughts are with you. Take extra good care of yourself this week.
So sorry Pseudo - the 'Book Lady' ... what an amazing sounding woman. It sounds like she touched the lives of a lot of kids - her legacy will live on. Man, I struggle with 'forgiveness' in cases like this - but it's the only way for any good to come x
Hearing things like this really make me stop and think about how precious life is. So sorry to hear about this tragedy Pseudo.
Sending blessings your way!
Awww, Teach...This is just awful. My thoughts and prayers will be with her friends and family. I agree. Senseless, absolutely senseless.
I'm sorry for your loss. The sending Positive Vibes your way. Sometimes the world just doesn't make any sense at all, does it?
This is so sad. I read the article on her and she sounds like an amazing woman who touched many lives. Her husband is appears to be just as amazing with his attitude of grace towards all of this. My prayers have already went out for everyone involved. Bless you my friend with arms of comfort. Love and hugs, Lori
My condolences to Asa's family and to you, Pseudo, as well as your freinds, colleagues and students at the school. She was certainly well-loved by all who knew her.
Don't really know what to say. It is so awful. Don't let bitterness eat you up - not that I really know you but I know I struggle with bitterness at times and it can steal my joy.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, that is such terrible news. She sounds like such a great person.
We had a string of violent store robberies in the area a few months back and it really shook me up. People can be so cruel and I just don't understand how.
I'll be thinking about Asa and her family.
I'm so sorry hear about your loss. My deepest condolences to you, her friends, and her family.
I am so so sorry.... I do know from reading your blog, you are surrounded by many wonderful friends, hope you can find comfort within their arms as they listen and hold you .... and comfort you during this time
I did not know Asa well, nor have I seen her for a few years. I worked at Wai"anae HS, where Asa was a teacher when I first started teaching full time. I recognized her immendiately as a big hearted, humble person who went out of her way to be nice to me when I was new.
Later, I ran into her at professional events. One day, I sat next to her and enjoyed her company at a table during the entire day and lunch. She was gracious and fun to talk with.
Thank-you everyone for your kind words, support, and prayers for Asa.
How awful! I'm so sorry for your loss... for everyone's loss. My condolences go out to everyone who knew her.
Heartbreaking...
Oh no! I am so sorry. I feel so bad for the family.
So sad.
What a terrible thing to happen...such senseless violence is so commonplace in the world...it truly is out of control. My thougths and prayers to you and the family..write me if you want, C .... xoxo
tragedy. it seems the best of us are taken by the worst of us. it amazes me, honestly, that her husband asks for forgiveness- that is such an awe inspiring statement to make. it humbles me and makes me reconsider how i live my own life. it was quoted that she 'never yelled' and had this huge presence. it's made me introspective and also extremely saddened that such a wonderful human being was taken so brutally.
i hope she is exactly where she is supposed to be and is content beyond our wildest dreams. she seems like she was a completely, utterly, amazing person.
and finally, i am so sorry for your loss. sorry beyond words.
Pseudo, I'm sorry about your friend. What a horrible thing to have happen to anyone. She seems like she was a great person. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. :(
That's awful. I'm so sorry.
Oh, Pseudo, I'm so sorry for your loss. Senseless violence just makes me so mad.
I'm so very sorry for your loss. There are no words...
I have no words. Such pain for such a wonderful family - too many questions for when (if) I reach Heaven.
I'm so sorry/
Oh my god... I am so sorry.
OMG. That is terrible! I am so sorry for your loss and the loss of the family. So very sad.
It's horrible when you hear about this sort of violence, but when it involves someone you know, it really shocks and hits home. Very sad indeed.
This is one of those horrible scenarios that always leaving you asking WTF went wrong that the warning signs were missed, because obviously the perp has some mental illness going on. Drug related perhaps, not that it matters. Your friend sounds like a fabulous person, and her husband is amazing in his forgiveness also. So sorry to hear about this...always disturbing and even more so when you know the person.
My thoughts and prayers going out to all who are touched by this terrible tragedy.
That's a bad story. So sad for those lovely little girls to lose their mother. I don't know why this kind of thing feels worse when it is random. Somehow you want badness to come out of something -- even if it is hate. To come out of randomness seems particularly cruel -- not just a crime of the killer, but a blow from the universe. What a loss for her students as well as her family.
