I'm out of words right now, so I'm borrowing words from others

"The whole idea of compassion is based on a keen awareness of the other.... The whole purpose of life is to live by love." -- Thomas Merton

Fair enough, but I don't remember you asking to put a picture of me up, I normally charge a fiver for that.

Compassion and love, if only they could reach those who ache for those very things before they reach out in violence and internal destitution. Thoughts of love to all.

Nice...I also like this from the Bhagavad-gita: "Compassion for the eternal soul is self-realization."

I love the Olomana song you have in the other post. Playing it now as I type this.

Thought of you the yesterday when reading the paper about that teacher in Ewa. So sad.

Sending warm thoughts your way. Went to the article about your friend and after that your picture and quote sounds so appropriate. She sounds like she was one great lady!

Compassion is one of those things that is hard to exercise, but necessary for our own mental health. Without it, we become one of 'those' people...one of those all twisted up and angry at the world and everyone, and unable to cope with the crap that happens around us. Compassion is needed to combat the weirdness that puts us off, and that occurs around us on a daily basis.

Hoping you're able to continue to find compassion despite such a horrible thing that has touched your life.

Well said, and I LOVE the snap! One of yours? Hang in there. Sunshine usually appears from the most unlikely of places!

Compassion is a gift that seems to be something a person either has or doesn't. Much like common sense.

And based on the depth of your writings (and you are an excellent writer) and the sincerity in your comments, YOU are a truly compassionate person.

I love your introspection.

Aloha,

Rerouting myself from The Rambler's blog. I grew up in Hawaii, but I'm residing in Florida at the moment...

I am trying to make more blogging friends from the islands..

Anyway, I love the quote that you posted.. It's so true and beautiful.

I'll be back again:)
