My travels today involve a sleepover in town... last night I went to the University of Hawaii and watched the Music Department's musical theatre class workshop style performances.

Here's one my daughter was in.

Travel tip today is when visiting not just Honolulu, but any town, check out what is going on at the college(s). There are often concerts, art exhibits, lectures, that are inexpensive and wonderful

Hope you can join in with a link to your own post about something special in your area, or perhaps somewhere you have been.

Your daughter, presumably, gets her performing streak from her mother?!

Great tip. I think there's a common misconception that for some of the activities on campus you either have to be a student or the guest of a student and in most cases it's not true.

That's a great tip. I often forget about the colleges and universitites. Most times their performances are just as good, if not better! congrats to your daughter.

That's a great tip. I love to find things that are apart from the tourist areas.

Great tip. I often forget to check our local university, and it's only a few miles away.

Love the video! We get fliers for performances at local colleges all the time, and never go... even to the ASL ones.. we suck. Maybe when the kids are older we'll go.

Which one is your daughter?

Awesome tip, Pseudo! Maybe this will help get those deserving students some more hands to clap for their performances!

I never go anywhere, but interesting idea for things to do right in your home town.

Great number! When Gina was in college, they did West Side Story. Gina was a Puerto Rican girl. America is one of my favorite numbers!

And college theater is just about as good as professional theater!

Good points there Ms Pseudo! Love the video!

What a great idea! I always see older people who don't have kids at the HS plays and concerts out here and I think that's such a good idea. I have to remember to do that when my kids leave.
But colleges; the entertainment there is probably really great!

It seems the only thing my daughter's involved in at college is. . . well partying.. . and we wouldn't want to see THAT video, now would we?

We live around the block from a university and I love getting to walk to see plays, musicals, and art exhibits. It makes us feel so darn cultured in our back woods town.

I know when I was in college I got to see so many plays. I totally forget that. Thanks..

I love any type of live performance. Thanks for the tip though because it has never occurred to me to check out the universities for entertainment (outside of football). I went to my next-door neighbor's band and choral concert this week. He goes to a public school for the arts. I was so amazed at the talent of middle schoolers. I have been to high school performances, even local theatre that didn't have this level of talent.

I loved this number from West Side Story, an all time fav of mine. I think I could even pick out your darling daughter.

I wouldn't have thought of something like this. Thanks for the tip.

That's what I miss most about the last town we lived in. There were so many opportunities as it was a university town!
