Friday Foto: Mother's Day 2009

Mother's Day was a quiet, peaceful, relaxing day of just my daughter and me. My husband was working (Mother's Day is huge in hotels and restaurants). I'd go into the story of how Son turned out not to be with us and make it light and funny, but I have a headache this morning. Let's just say it was all good.

Daughter and I got to the North Shore around 10 AM and apparently nearly everyone else was taking their mom to a hotel or restaurant brunch because the beach was nearly deserted.
I think the cloud up there behind BC looks like a flying dragon.

A sweet and fun dragon.

Right after I took this picture, I jumped in the water and BC came flying in after me. Daughter and I played catch with his tennis ball and he played Monkey in the Middle. He can swim like a little steam engine when a ball is at stake.

Our little spot of heaven for the day.

BC and I took off for a nice long beach walk. Summer weather is here. It was so hot there were shimmer waves coming up off the sand and we had to jump in the water every ten minutes.

While perky boy
ran
back
and forth

I
found

some
treasures.
The shell on the right is very pretty.
If you click on the picture, it enlarges.

This family of paddle boarders are letting mom have some ocean space to herself.

We left early to beat the crowd to Hali'ewa for dinner. We frequent a Mexican restaurant that has some tables outside we can have BC join us. We did not, however, anticipate how freaking hot it was to sit with a brand new sunburn in the hot sun and eat spicey food. After I downed this here margarita, we got some to go boxes.

And finished our dinner at this picnic table.

For more Friday Fotos, head on over to Candid Carrie's.

I've spent two weeks of my life there, but they were some of the prettiest weeks of my life!
Great photos!

WOW what a perfect beach - i.e. empty! Looks like you had a lovely time. Thanks for sharing the beauty. ;)

The cloud reminds me of Falkor the Dragon from The Neverending Story.
My dog loves the beach too. She runs and runs, then lays in the surf to cool off.
Glad you had a peaceful Mother's Day! It sure is beautiful.

I almost never long for the beach, because they are typically a crowded mess here in FL, but these images are just perfect. I was thinking "wish I was there" the entire time I was reading. Glad you had a nice day

Ah wow, snack take-out food in little polystyrene trays. Those trays just make it taste so good!

Man that is so pretty. I wish I was there.

Off to work...

Hey MO ; -) The trays were actucally recycled, gets soggy stuff. Cause it was the North Shore. Last week's Thai food to go - yeah, that's the one where we were being awful to the environment.

I've never been to Hawaii but those photos are just what I would expect the beaches to look like, beautiful blue skies, clean sandy beaches and lots of refreshing drinks!

Glad you and daughter and BC had a great day.

Goodness gracious that is lovely. I usually am not a beach enjoyer. And most of my life, I've been lucky enough to live right near a beach... but that beach, looks amazing.

So happy you had a nice day and also happy you took photos and are sharing with us...

Oh thank you for that beach.... and sharing. I miss the beach - Lake Michigan is an OK substitute, but it just doesn't have the same smell. And the shells were gorgeous :)

I don't love the beach, I hardly ever go, even though it is only a few minutes away... but I think I could love THIS beach.. or any beach in Hawaii...

I'm going to hang out at the beach as much as I can this weekend. It's supposed to be hot, hot, hot! Enjoy your weekend!

wow that looks amazing...and so relaxing. You're a lucky lady.

Did they let you take the margaritas with you? Great pictures. I'd much prefer a lonely beach to a crowd anywhere, anytime.

Happy belated Mother's Day.

I absolutely LOVE how Perky Little boy's pawprints do that little lap of honor on the pristine sand...

And you're right, C, that margarita is YOURS AND MINE, BABY!

Sounds like a GREAT Mother's Day! I love the photographs.

And I love the idea of a restaurant that allows you to bring your dog. How cool!

Looked like a gorgeous day (that cloud did look like a dragon), and the water looks so refreshing. How nice that the beach was nearly deserted. :)

Fragrant Liar said...

Yes, one of these days it would be fabulous to meet on the beach with our maragaritas.

What a great mother's day. D2 and I went to the beach today. It's becoming our Sat morning ritual. (I hope)

BTW, I've repeated your mean girl prom story to everyone who will listen. I still can't believe anyone can be such a bitch!

What a wonderful way to spend Mom's Day. I only wish it was warm enough here to do that. Because that would be what I'd do too.

Superior Snaps, all! And isn't an empty beach the best? I still envy you that this slice o' Heaven is in your backyard! In celebration of All Things Beautiful, please stop by for Sx3 today...we've got quite a Fish Tale goin' on!

I love the ocean. Looks like an ideal day, even the Mexican food induced sweating. ;) The photos make me want to head over to the beach right now actually.

I was thinking of printing all those pictures out and putting them in a line on my floor and then lying on to of them. Maybe throw a little sand around on top of them to simulate actually being there. Aaaah. :)

I am very seriously jealous right now. :) And I must say that I love your profile description. What a cool chica!
